Inspirational Salad

My mother makes salads that are truly works of art. When James and I finally arrived after our week on the road, she greeted us for dinner with one of these creations.

Though the romaine, cucumbers, and radish all came from the store, the rest (edible flowers, chive blossoms, herbs, and arugula) all came from our own garden. It wasn't just a beautiful meal, it was delicious. It wouldn't be too hard to replicate even without a garden though -- all it takes is lots of fresh greenery and an aesthetic eye.

Full disclosure: they do take a while to put together and then to eat, but it's totally worth it.

I must apologize for neglecting this space a little bit. A combination of post grad malaise and a sudden family issue have preoccupied me. These issues aren't over yet but I want to be better, so don't give up on me!
