Road Trip to Poughkeepsie

I took these pictures on one of the last times I drove from Northampton, Massachusetts to Poughkeepsie, New York to see James. It takes less than two and a half hours to complete, a very easy amount of time for sustaining a long distance relationship, and these days I know it by heart, even though I doubt I will ever drive it again.

These pictures are also significant because they represent the end of senior week and the beginning of commencement festivities. They point to the last days I spent at Smith, and the last days when I could drop everything, drive a couple of hours, and end up on his doorstep. And to some extent, they are a way of expressing my gratitude for this car, Bela, who carried me back and forth between Smith and loved ones countless times over the last year, despite carrying over 200,000 miles himself.
