Lost in Venice

Just a few shots from wandering aimlessly in the streets of Venice. Activities included an absurd amount of shopping and a frequent pursuit of cafe wifi. We had a lovely time.

I hadn't been to Venice since I was 12, and I don't remember much about it, apart from the Carnivale mask I bought as a souvenir and then accidentally left behind in the rental car. That one still stings, but I finally managed to make up for it ten years later. This trip was a little more fruitful than the last -- I learned about the history of Venice (more on that later), and actually got to spend several days there, which was great in spite of the expense.

Stayed: at Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli & Gran Canal. It was beautiful. Not cheap, but neither is Venice. The breakfast buffet is incredible.

Ate: Everywhere. I will admit to getting a few meals in sketchy cafes simply to conserve cash. Stepping into any place nicer than that is likely to get you some excellent food, however. This is Italy after all.

More on Venice later, but first a quick day trip to Verona!
